Etude House : Play Color Eyes (Review)

Now, I know I say that I try to keep my reviews to drugstore products, but today it's a little bit more than drugstore.

Ok I lied. It's definitely not drugstore. High end, if I would describe it.



As you can see from the title, I'm going to be reviewing the Etude House "Play Color Eyes" eye shadow palette.

This is what the box and the actual platte looks like.

If you're thinking, "girl why did you buy such an expensive palette?", let me tell you why.

It was on sale.

That's it.
(I'm a simple human. I see sale, I buy it.)


This palette is originally $57 (I know, so expensive)

But they had it 39% off, which made it $34.90.
I know it's not crazy affordable but at least its's not $57.
(I asked the girl at the store how long the sale lasted and she told me about one more week so if you want it, you should go get it quick!)


Basic information about this palette :
- It's a palette with 10 colors in total (3 shimmers and 7 mattes)
- The colors were inspired by coffee.

The packaging : I LOVE it
- You can't really see in the photos but it's so slim and compact, also very light weight. It's perfect for traveling.
- Doesn't feel cheap at all.
- It has a very nicely sized mirror when you open it.
- It is a little bit hard to open.
- They have two sponge tip applicator which I was disappointed by because I like using brushes. But if you're a sponge tip applicator girl, then you'll like it because the sizes of the tips are different.


Here are the colors and swatches.

They also have this little sheet which I'm pretty sure has the names of the colors but it's in Korean so I can't read it...
But it looks adorable!! I'm for sure keeping the sheet.

As you can see, the pigmentations are great!
Especially the mattes.

1 = A great highlighter when you use your fingers to apply it. With a brush, it has barely any pigmentation. Doesn't have too much shimmers which gives a natural look of more opened eyes.
2 = One of my favorite color. Vey blend able, nice deep chocolate. Also the most long lasting one.
3 = An amazing crease color for deeper skin tones. Also very blend able.
4 = A lighter version of #3. I love it for natural makeup days. You can use it for no-makeup looks too. I also use it as a transition shade.
5 = A tiny bit darker than #4. Also an amazing crease color.
6 = A gorgeous gold shimmery color. It's not chunky, but a little bit powdery. It does not show up as pigmented in the swatches when applied on the eyes.
7 = The most pigmented color. Very copper, deep brown color. The color is darker in real life then in the picture. Not as powdery as #7, it's actually very creamy. I like it a lot.
8 = A very light color that you can use it a lot for transition shades or simple makeup looks.
9 = The only bright color in the palette. A perfect spring shade. It doesn't look very pigmented in the swatch but when it's on the lid, it really opens up the eyes. Also one of my favorite.
10 = A rose gold shimmer color. If I'm going to be completely honest, there's barely any pigmentation. There's a lot glitter, but not a lot of pink. You can use it as a inner corner highlight but you'll need to apply it with your fingers.


Texture :
- #6, 7 and 10 (the shimmery shades) are so soft and creamy .
- #2 and 9 are the creamiest in the matte colors.
- #3 and 5 are not super creamy but not hard at all. It's in the middle.
- #1, 4 and 8 are harder.
- They all don't have fall outs and blends really nicely.

Wear time :
- It lasts a decent amount of time.
- The matte shades lasts longer than the shimmers.
- It's not waterproof.


My overall thought :
       I really enjoyed this palette, but I don't think it's worth $57. It's definitely worth $34. Not all the colors wear super long or has the best pigmentation. But I really like #7 and all the matte colors. I might use #6 and #10 in special occasions. It's definitely build able but if you're expecting instant pigmentation, it's not for you. But if you're a makeup beginner or tend to pack on too much color, it's perfect for you because you can really take small steps to build it up. I love how you can layer colors for the night or keep it soft and simple during the day!

Daiso Makeup Review : Mix Cheek Powder (Blush)

My very first product review is going to be on this blush that is sold at Daiso.

In case you don't know what Daiso is, it's a $2 shop which originates in Japan. There are many in Singapore too (ION, Plaza Singapura...etc)
Which means everything in Daiso are two dollars.
It sells everything from stationaries, lawn work products, food, clothes, paint and of course, makeup!


So the product I'm gonna review is called the "Mix Cheek Powder"

My color is in "#3 cute color".
(It doesn't have any company names)
(They had two shades in total. One with more deeper and plum shades, but I decided to get the more pink/peachy one)


This is what the packaging looks like.

Packaging : I think it's really cute. It's very hard and doesn't feel like it'll break easily.
But if I could say one thing about it, it is a little bit bulky and big so it might not be the best for travelling. And it also feels really cheap but then, it is so... we'll have to deal with it.



Here are the swatches.





The colors on the top (#2 and #3) are semi-matte. I would say they have a satin finish.
The bottom two (#1 and #4) are very very shimmery. They are quite glittery.

Over all, the pigmentation is not that great.


Color #1
- It performed better as an inner corner highlight for the eyes.
- Although there are decent amount of pigmentation, the glitter chunks are very big.
- The texture of it when you touch it, is very soft. But the powder it self is a little bit chunky and not as smooth as I want it to be.
- I wouldn't recommend it for a cheek highlight because it's too glittery for it.

Color #2
- It's the deepest color out of all of them and also the most pigmented.
- It performs better than the others as a blush.
- In my opinion, it's the best one.
- It's not super pigmented which I think is good beginners or people who tend to put too much blush.
- Texture is the same as #1. But not as chunky.

Color #3
- It's the most pink and peach color out of all of them.
- I think it needs to be a little bit more pigmented to show up on the skin as a blush. But if you pile it on, it gives a very nice wash of color.
- The texture is the exact same as #2.

Color #4
- Definitely the least pigmented out of all.
- But it can be used as a pinky highlight (sort of).
- The glitters aren't as big and chunky as #1, but it still is.
- It also adds a little bit of shine to the cheeks if you use it as a blush topper.
- The texture is the same as #2 and #3.

Here's a picture of them all mixed

( I swatched #4 again because you couldn't really see in the previous picture)

All Mixed :
- It gives a very, very soft color of pink with some shine to it.
- But when you actually apply it to your face, it has a more of a red-ish color to it when the swatch makes it look very pinky.
- You do need to swirl your brush in it quite a lot of times for the pigmentation.
- Texture wise, it's very soft but again, the pigmentation is not the best.

(By the way they smell like crayons)


Staying power :
- It's not the best, but it's also not the worst.
- The glitter fades away quickly but the color it self stays for an adequate amount of time.
- It definitely does not hold in water or sweat.


I tried them both on naked skin (no concealer) and not naked skin (some concealer and powder)

On the naked skin, it barely showed up the first time I applied it (used my Catrice cosmetics kabuki brush which I always use). Even the glitters didn't show up that much. So I decided to change the brush (used the Guardian blush brush) and it turned out to be better. The best color payoff is when you mix all the colors together. Other wise, it wouldn't show. The glitters might be a little bit too much in the beginning, but it goes away quite fast (the color it self will stay). On skin with some concealer and powder, the color went on more vividly.
I learned that if you want the colors to show up, you need to use a dense brush or else it won't. The blend ability wasn't bad at all.


Is it worth the money?
- I mean it's only two dollars so... yes. I might start using it.
Do you absolutely need this blush in your life?
- If you already have a blush that you like, then not really. But let say you only own dark plum blushes and want to try something new but don't really want to pay too much for it, then yes.

I'm a makeup lover who lives in Singapore.

I follow a lot, and I mean A LOT of makeup gurus on YouTube.
From Super famous ones to people who just started out (like me!)


As I was watching all these videos, I realized that a lot of these gurus were living in America, England, Canada...

Mainly not Singapore.


Of course I loved watching their videos but sometimes it made me jealous because they all had these makeup products or Brand’s that they don't sell in Singapore.

Plus, the prices are waaaayyyyyy much more affordable.
(Seriously Singapore, can't we tone down the prices a littl' bit)



So.... I decided to do product reviews by myself!!!


I'm sure there's a lot of people who felt the same way as me and I really hope I can help.


L'oreal might be a drugstore brand in America but in Singapore... It's the same as high end.


I mean come on. $30 for a pressed powder??

Ya I know, TOTALLY drugstore price.
